Tech SEO Connect is a two-day, single-track conference in Durham, North Carolina, for people who want to go deeper into search.
We bring together technical SEOs, in-house search leaders, agency owners, developers, and the people building search tools. The common thread is curiosity about how things work, experience with difficult problems, and a willingness to share what you’ve learned.
The conference grew out of friendships formed in the technical SEO community and a desire to spend more time learning together in person. Inspired by the small, substantive gatherings at TechSEO Boost in Boston, Matthew Kay, Patrick Stox, JR Oakes, and Mike King launched Tech SEO Connect in 2024. We wanted to create the kind of event we would make time to attend ourselves.
That starts with the program. We seek out speakers whose work gives them something useful to share and put real care into how the talks fit together. The aim is to leave you with ideas you’re still thinking about weeks later. Everyone follows the same track, so a conversation over coffee can pick up where a session left off.
We keep the gathering small enough to get to know people. You can reconnect with friends, meet someone whose work you’ve followed for years, or find another person wrestling with a problem that looks a lot like yours. There’s room to sit down, open a laptop, and work through an idea together.
We also care about how it feels to be here. Beautiful spaces, an all-day espresso bar, good food, live music, and evenings spent together are part of the experience. We choose places and people we love, and put the event’s resources back into making those two days worthwhile.
Sponsors are part of the community. We keep their presence small and personal, with simple tables and comfortable places to talk. We don’t sell or hand over attendee lists. You decide who you want to connect with and what you want to share.
The learning extends beyond the room, too. We livestream talks and make recordings freely available on YouTube so the wider community can benefit.
